PhantomSnap is built with privacy as its core principle. We believe your photos and data belong to you alone. This privacy policy explains how PhantomSnap protects your privacy and what information we handle.

What We Don't Collect

PhantomSnap does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data:

• We never access or upload your photos
• We never collect your passwords or encryption keys
• We never track your location
• We never collect personal identifiers
• We never use analytics or tracking cookies
• We never require an account or registration

How PhantomSnap Works

100% Local Processing

All encryption and decryption operations happen entirely on your device. Your photos never leave your device during the encryption process. The app works completely offline — no internet connection is required for core functionality.

Photo Storage

Your encrypted photos are stored as decoy images directly in your Photos app, not within PhantomSnap. These images sync with iCloud Photos or any backup service you use, just like normal photos. PhantomSnap is merely a tool to encrypt and decrypt — it doesn't store your photos.

Password Security

Your encryption passwords are never stored anywhere. They exist only in your device's memory during the encryption/decryption process and are immediately discarded afterward. Password verification happens through cryptographic means — we cannot recover forgotten passwords.

What Minimal Data We Handle

Subscription Status Only

If you purchase a premium subscription, Apple's StoreKit framework manages the transaction. We only check with Apple's servers whether your subscription is active — we don't store payment information or personal details.

Daily Usage Counters

For free users, the app maintains local counters on your device to track daily encryption/restoration limits. These counters reset daily and are never transmitted anywhere.

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete anytime: Simply delete the app to remove all PhantomSnap data from your device
• Photos remain safe: Your encrypted photos in the Photos app remain intact even if you delete PhantomSnap
• No account deletion needed: Since we don't have accounts, there's nothing to delete from our servers
• Export your data: Your photos are already in your Photos app — you own them completely

Security Measures

PhantomSnap implements industry-standard security:

• AES-256-GCM encryption for all photos
• PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations for key derivation
• Cryptographically secure random number generation
• No encryption keys or passwords stored anywhere
• Steganography to hide encrypted data within images

Children's Privacy

PhantomSnap does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal data, children's privacy is inherently protected. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store as it contains no objectionable content.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Since we don't collect your contact information, we recommend checking this page periodically.
